What is Farmington Youth Assistance?
FYA is a community-based program developed by volunteers who live or work in the Farmington area. Its purpose is to strengthen youth and families and to reduce the incidence of juvenile delinquency, child abuse, and child neglect.
How is FYA different from other agencies?
FYA is the only locally based organization that provides short-term, low-cost counseling services to youth 17 years or younger and their families. FYA accepts referrals from the Court’s Family Division Intake Unit, school counselors and teachers, police departments, and parents who have concerns about their child.
Who can use FYA services?
Any family that resides within the geographic boundaries of the Farmington Public School District is eligible to receive services and participate in FYA activities.

How are FYA programs funded?
The Circuit Court-Family Division provides the professional staff to work with the volunteers and to provide direct casework services. FYA operates under the sponsorship and financial support of the Farmington Public Schools and the municipalities therein. FYA obtains additional funding is through grants, individual donations, and local fundraising efforts.
Who volunteers for FYA?
Social workers, program organizers, attorneys, insurance agents, school employees, business owners, executives, and soccer moms and dads. Anyone who wants to improve the lives of children and families in the Farmington area is welcome to join us.
